Every weekday, each of our 78 clients, many of whom were moved from the rotating PADS shelter sites to individual accommodations, receive breakfast and lunch donated by our volunteers, and dinner from local caterers. On weekends, meals are provided by one local restaurant.
A lot has happened in our world, and for Housing Forward, since we last emailed. I wanted to send an update about what we are doing to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. Over the last three weeks, we have continued to work to ensure all our clients have the services and support they need. In addition, the health and well-being of our volunteers and staff are at the forefront of our thoughts and actions. Housing Forward’s offices and Support Center will be closed on Monday, December 24 and Tuesday, December 25.
The Associate Board of Housing Forward hosted Charity Royale, a successful casino-themed fundraising event on October 20th at South Branch Chicago. More than one hundred attendees raised over $18,000 while mingling, enjoying appetizers and cocktails, and using “faux dough” to try their luck wagering on various games of chance.
