Our thanks to everyone who made the 2019 Point in Time Count a success

Our thanks to everyone who made the 2019 Point in Time Count a success

Despite being rescheduled due to extreme weather, 150+ volunteers on over 40 teams canvassed more than 500 square miles of Suburban Cook County from approximately 8pm Feb. 6th to 2am Feb. 7th. In the west region, a team of volunteers met at Housing Forward in Maywood and received dinner and a training session before heading out into the night.

The effort was led by The Alliance to End Homelessness in Suburban Cook County and the Volunteers found more than 100 individuals who were experiencing unsheltered homelessness. They were able to connect individuals who needed immediate care with emergency services. They were even able to house a veteran found during the Point in Time Count the very next day! Ultimately, we were able to make everyone count.

Thank you to everyone who donated their time, and also those who donated supplies and packed the bags offered to each person encountered that night.

Hope to see you in 2021 for the next count!
