Housing Forward is looking for dynamic individuals who are willing to help transform their community!


AmeriCorps programs do more than move communities forward; they provide pathways to opportunity for people entering or re-entering the workforce. AmeriCorps members have the opportunity to learn valuable work skills, earn money for education and develop an appreciation for citizenship. In addition to the many benefits, AmeriCorps member focuses on assisting clients with basic needs and encouraging access to services and housing. We are currently accepting applicants for the upcoming 2018-2019 service year. Volunteer Services would like to welcome Etta Martin who will be taking on the role of AmeriCorps Volunteer Coordinator. She will be assisting our current AmeriCorps Volunteer Coordinator, Cleo Smith in helping to coordinate our agency’s volunteer program. Etta is a retired Teacher’s Assistant at Oak Park and River Forest High School, in Oak Park, IL. While there she assisted students in their school reading program. Etta is excited to start a new chapter of her life by way of serving others and joining our AmeriCorps cohort. Etta will mainly oversee our volunteer communication and community outreach efforts while Cleo will be responsible for the general scheduling of volunteers. Etta, we are glad to have you on board! Housing Forward is looking for a part-time overnight staff person to support PADS Emergency Shelter. The Second Shift Staff provides support and ensures the safety of individuals and families experiencing homeless that are in Housing Forward’s PADS Emergency Shelter.  Hours:  Part-time 10:30pm to 5:00am.  Position may be on-call when overnight coverage is needed.
