Volunteers Key to PADS Emergency Shelter Program

Our 27th PADS Emergency Shelter season is off to a strong start, but we still need volunteers.

We need five meal provider groups to provide breakfast or lunch once a month and additional volunteers working during shelter shifts. Details listed below.

VOLUNTEER JOB DESCRIPTIONS:

Site Captain: Work with staff to generally supervise the volunteers and clients, ensuring a safe environment. Orientation required. Training provided.
Shelter Volunteer: Help set up and break down the shelter and prepare breakfast during 3rd shift. Orientation required. Training provided.
Food Provider: Bring all supplies and hands needed to prepare and serve hot dinner, packed sack lunches (dropped off night before) or breakfast.

MEAL OPENINGS:

Breakfast for 60 people – 3rd Tuesdays at Oak Park Temple
Breakfast for 60 people – 3rd Wednesdays at Grace Episcopal Church in Oak Park
Breakfast for 60 people – 5th  Wednesdays at Grace Episcopal Church in Oak Park
Breakfast for 60 people – 2nd Fridays at St. John Lutheran Church in Forest Park
Sack lunches for 60 people – 2nd Fridays at St. John Lutheran Church in Forest Park
Breakfast for 60 people  4th Saturdays at St. Mary Celle in Berwyn

SHELTER SHIFTS:

1st: 6:30pm-10:30pm
2nd (overnight) 10:30pm-5am
3rd : 5am-7:30am
