The Associate Board of Housing Forward hosted Charity Royale, a successful casino-themed fundraising event on October 20th at South Branch Chicago, a beautiful spot along the Chicago River. More than one hundred attendees raised over $18,000 while mingling, enjoying appetizers and cocktails, and using “faux dough” to try their luck wagering on various games of chance. Those with winnings at the end of the evening traded in chips for chances to win $4,000 in raffle prizes. The members of this impressive young professionals group chose the venue, planned the event and, secured sponsorships from more than 20 private and corporate donors. Suggested apparel for the evening was “Sophisticated Spy” a theme well-represented by one of the evening’s major donors, Dominick Syzmanski, who sported a black tuxedo with quilted collar, and black bow tie.
In addition to looking the part, Mr. Syzmanski, Manager, Communications (BMO PayMod) used his considerable charm to work the room like a networking bon vivant. He enjoyed extra perks offered with that giving level including admission for 8 guests, bonus casino chips, opportunity to distribute promotional materials, website and e-newsletter spotlight, event signage, special mention from the stage, name and logo at venue, on website, and on social media. We aren’t sure if his lucky held up at the gaming tables, but we feel very fortunate to have his support. He is definitely considered a big winner to all of us at Housing Forward.
