Become a Volunteer

I started working with Housing Forward in 2022. I was organizing a corporate volunteer event, and I reached out to Cherrell to see if there were any volunteer opportunities for our group. Since then, I have been organizing annual House to Home events, working with a group of coworkers to set up a new home for a family. It’s an event that all of the volunteers walk away from feeling fulfilled, seeing how their efforts have an immediate and positive impact on the family. 

It's been a pleasure to serve those in need. It's a great opportunity to provide direct assistance and live out my faith. In these times where the federal government is pulling back it's good to know that we can act and show compassion to those in need.

I have been volunteering at the Economy shop for over 3 years. Being involved with an organization that is committed to ending homelessness is invaluable. It is has been an honor and privilege volunteering for Housing Forward.

Five friends and I get together once a month to make 50 dinners for Housing Forward residents. After three years, we’ve learned what food works best in individual containers and have become more efficient as a team at shopping for and preparing a meal for a crowd. It is definitely a win-win for us: We feel really good about helping out while we spend time cooking together and sharing some laughs.

 I believe that housing is essential. Housing Forward’s mission to end homelessness is daunting. I am so grateful to have the opportunity to help in this mission.

I volunteer with Housing Forward because the clients are my neighbors, and it's important to me that my neighbors are taken care of. Bringing dinner to Interim Housing is no different than dropping off a casserole for a new mom, in my mind. Everyone needs help sometime, and I'm happy to give help when I can.

I have been volunteering for Housing Forward providing meals to the emergency shelter for several years. It is fulfilling and warms my heart to combine my love of cooking with my passion of service. The mission of Housing Forward is one I will continue to support because everyone deserves a place to call home.
