Converting a former hotel into a transitional shelter
This campaign will help us transform an aging hotel into a state-of-the-art permanent home for Interim Housing and RISE Center Medical Respite services, and help individuals and families transition to a permanent home. The comprehensive renovation will create:

- Dignity-based philosophy
- 61 updated rooms which include private bathrooms, kitchenettes and private storage
- 22 rooms will become ADA accessible for residents with physical disabilities
- Two new client laundry areas

Spaces
- A safe and secure client lobby and intake area
- A multi-purpose community room with a salon, a kitchen for resident dining, and social gatherings, classes and workshops
- An updated patio and green space

- A medical examination room and clinical office
- Client consultation and meeting rooms
- A multi-purpose conference room in the former hotel lobby

The Interim Housing Program offers a stable environment and comprehensive support services that help unhoused individuals successfully transition to long-term housing stability.
We are investing in a service that we know works. Between September 2020 and July 2025, the Interim Housing Program assisted 413 individuals with 83,969 nights of housing. 75% of clients have moved onto permanent housing.
The RISE Center Medical Respite Services are provided in partnership with Cook County Health. Medical respite ensures unhoused people who have experienced a medical event have a safe, stable place to recuperate.
Since the program was established in December 2020, the RISE Center has assisted 313 people, 27,788 nights of recuperative care. 89% of program participants have reached full medical recuperation.
